Horse Riding Road Safety Signs Kyo Bog Lane

We petition the council to install horse riding road safety signs on Kyo Bog Lane after a surge in near misses between horse riders and motor vehicles following installation of 40 mph signs on the lane.

Background information »

Kyo Bog Lane is a single track used by horse riders, dog walkers and cyclists to access various footpaths, bridleways and fields. Prior to the council advertising the lane as 40 mph through signage most vehicles on the lane were residents of local farms and of a small residential estate (Frenchies Close). However, with ever increasing traffic this has led to countless near misses and several accidents one culminating in a horse and rider being hit by a car and police involvement. Local riders now fear using the lane which they had previously enjoyed for years. We have been advised that the only effective way for the speed of the lane to be changed is through the recommendation of a coroner. Please do not let it get to this. We implore the council to take action and put up horse riding road safety signs to notify drivers of our presence on the lane and to negate any serious accidents for horse, rider, driver or cyclist.
