Transport Consultation - Hills Street Gateshead

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Borough Council of Gateshead proposes to make THE BOROUGH COUNCIL OF GATESHEAD (HILLS STREET, GATESHEAD) TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2017


The proposed Order will:-

  1. Introduce a loading bay operating from 10am to 4pm and 6pm to 8am for 1 hour with no return in 2 hours;
  2. Restrict the traffic on Hills Street, Gateshead to only buses, cyclists, private hire vehicles and hackney carriages;
  3. Prohibit vehicles from making left-hand turns from A167 Gateshead Highway into Hills Street;
  4. Prohibit vehicles from making right-hand turns from Hills Street into A167 Gateshead Highway and from Half Moon Lane into Hills Street;
  5. Introduce a 14 metres section of no waiting and no loading restriction on the south-west side of Hills Street from a point 13.5 metres south west of the junction with the Gateshead Highway;
  6. Replace the existing no waiting at any time restriction with a new signalised pedestrian crossing on Hills Street at the junction with the A167 Gateshead Highway, and
  7. Remove the right turn bus lane from A167 Tyne Bridge southbound.

AND

Introduce a pedestrian traffic light controlled crossing on Hills Street at a point 3 metres west of the junction with the Gateshead Highway.
