XP Gateshead New Academy Proposal

XP Trust are proposing to open XP Gateshead free school in September 2021 for 50 Year 7 students. The school would be based in the old Thomas Hepburn School building, Felling, Gateshead. The school’s proposed catchment area is all of Gateshead and Springwell Village in Sunderland.

XP Trust are consulting on the following areas:

• Site plans
• How the school will impact on the local community
• The demand for the school
• Their approach to admissions
• SEN and other policies
• The vision and ethos of the school

XP Trust will undertake two further consultations. One of these will be aimed at parents interested in applying for a place for their child. The second will be for wider stakeholders to have a chance to hear from the team and ask questions/give their views. Details for these events will be published on the xpgateshead website soon.

Following consultation and if approval is given by the Department of Education, XP Gateshead will publicise their admission arrangements for September 2021.
