Placemaking Supplementary Planning Document - First Review

The Council is consulting on an updated Placemaking Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) The Placemaking SPD was first adopted in 2012. An update of the Placemaking SPD is required following the adoption of Making Spaces for Growing Places in  February  2021, which resulted in the related deletion of policies from the Unitary Development Plan. The SPD includes updated information on Areas of Special Character and Routeways and Gateways.

The SPD is being consulted on for a period of 6 weeks where comments can be made on the SPD. The SPD can be viewed on the Council website or by prior appointment at Gateshead Civic Centre (Monday to Friday 8.45am to 4.30pm) at the address below:
