Transport Consultation - Durham Road Low Fell Experimental Traffic Order
Notice is hereby given that on the 29th July 2020 the Borough Council of Gateshead made an experimental traffic order 'The Borough Council of Gateshead (Durham Road Low Fell) Experimental Traffic Order 2020'
Notice is hereby given that on the 13th January 2021 the Council made the Borough Council of Gateshead (Durham Road Low Fell) Experimental Traffic Order - Amendment No.1 2021
15/1/2021 - The Borough Council of Gateshead (Durham Road Low Fell) Experimental Traffic Order - Amendment No.1 2021, comes into operation on the 25 January 2021 and the effect of which will be to amend the 2020 order by the provisons contained within the schedules to the attached Notice, Order and Plan 'Amendment 1'.

(29/7/2020) The order comes into operation on the 6th August 2020 on an experimental basis and it will be in force for a maximum period of 18 months and the effect of the Order will be to:
- amend the Borough Council of Gateshead (Durham Road QTC Phase 4 Part 2 Gateshead) Traffic Regulation Order 2016 by removing various waiting and disabled parking place restrictions as set out in the Order;
- Introduce No Waiting At Any Time as set out in Schedule 1 to the Notice;
- Introduce No Loading Monday to Friday 6am to 6pm as set out in Schedule 2 to the Notice;
- Introduce No Loading At Any Time as set out in Schedule 3 to the Notice; and
- Introduce a Disabled Blue Badge Parking Place as set out in Schedule 4 to the Notice. (Full Notice appended in documents below)
The Order includes a provision to enable the Council’s Service Director for Development, Transport and Public Protection (or their duly authorised officer) to modify or suspend any of the provisions within the Order, whilst it remains in force in accordance with Section 10(2) of the Act.
The reason for proceeding by way of an Experimental Traffic Regulation Order is to enable the Council to prohibit parking and loading to create a safe area for pedestrians which is in line with the government guidance on maintaining social distancing due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
